The Australian star Nick Kyrgios announced on his OnlyFans account on Saturday that he would be missing the Australian Open scheduled this January. Kyrgios’ continuous struggle with his fitness has forced him to miss another major tournament.

The 28-year-old went through knee surgery in the past January and had plans to make a return to Wimbledon. However, after tearing a ligament in his wrist, he was again forced to stay away from the court.

Kyrgios has expressed his disappointment through his account on OnlyFans, with which he signed a long-term deal last week. The Australian said on his website,

So, this is very disappointing time for me, but I won't be able to compete at the 2024 Australian Open.

The Australian racked up some good performances before the injury scarred him. The Australian reached the finals of Wimbledon 2022 but was defeated by Novak Djokovic.

Kyrgios said earlier that the “stars need to align” for him to come back. Making just one professional match appearance in the 2023 season, Kyrgios has been out of the Singles rankings too. The former World No.13 is all set to miss his second consecutive Australian Open after opting out of the eve of the last year. However, he is included in the commentary panel for the tournament.

Nick Kyrgios faces backlash for his OnlyFans account

After Kyrgios announced his long-term signing with OnlyFans, he has faced heavy backlash and criticism from the fans. Fans called him a ‘hypocrite’ after old tweets of him criticizing Bernard Tomic surfaced after the announcement. In the tweet, Kyrgios insulted Tomic for having an OnlyFans account and attacked his girlfriend too who was an OnlyFans model.

To questions regarding his decision to join the subscription website, Kyrgios said,

They are revolutionizing social media and I wanted to be a part of that.

Kyrgios has been always known for his aggressive nature and outspokenness and this has frequently been kept him in the headlines. OnlyFans account CEO Keily Blair has remarked on this nature of Kyrgios and has lauded the Australian for joining their platform.

The Australian ace’s return date is still not cleared. In his absence from the Australian Open, Alex De Minaur will be leading the Australian men. The timing of his injuries has put his career at a halt. However, his countrymen and his fans would hope that he comes back soon and is seen raging.
