Nick Kyrgios, the 27-year-old Australian professional has cemented his name as one of the best players in the world in recent times. Reaching the Wimbledon final last year, Kyrgios proved that he belongs at the very top of tennis. The Australian professional is more known for his antics rather than his skills on the court, constantly getting in trouble and dealing with hecklers, Krygios never fails to entertain.

Kyrgios was unable to compete at this year’s Australian Open due to a knee injury for which he had to get surgery. The Australian also withdrew from the United Cup team event in the latter stages of December. He was expected to compete in the first Grand Slam of the season but that wasn’t possible due to another injury.

Not competing in the Australian Open, Kyrgios was offered the chance to commentate on the competition for Channel 9. Which the Australian refused to do, the Sydney Morning Herald reflected more on the situation. They said, “There’s no denying Nick Kyrgios is a rating sensation. After his shock withdrawal from the tournament, Channel Nine, the publishers of this masthead, reached out to his management to see if there was any appetite from the 27-year-old to make his commentary debut, Kyrgios, though, decided to enjoy his last few nights in Melbourne with friends and family.

Nick Kyrgios’ return at the Australian Open was highly anticipated but that was quickly cut short after he suffered an injury on his knee that rendered him to the sidelines. The Australian was unable to compete in the first Grand Slam of the season, had he participated Kyrgios would be one of the frontrunners for the title but it looks like he will have to wait a bit longer for his maiden Grand Slam title.

After his surgery, Kyrgios is expected to come back into action at the Indian Wells tournament in March. Despite not competing at the Australian Open, Kyrgios has managed to capture the headlines with his antics off the court.

The Australian recently was slammed by fans for comparing the Australian Open men’s bottom quarter to ATP 250. He also took to Twitter to shower praises on Thanasi Kokkinakis for his thrilling performance against Andy Murray.
