In the second round-robin match of the ATP Finals, Andrey Rublev was up against Carlos Alcaraz. Both the players were yet to win a match in the tournament but the Spaniard managed to beat Rublev to secure his first-ever win at the ATP Finals. During the match, Rublev was seen frustrated with himself and hitting his knee with his racket. Nick Kyrgios said, about Rublev injuring himself:
I mean, from someone who doesn’t hold their composure pretty well, like myself, this is crazy. I’ve never done that, to be honest. I mean, he needs a knee. He needs to move.
This is the second time that the Russian has hurt himself out of frustration. Even in the previous match against Daniil Medvedev, Rublev punched his racket and hurt his fists. As a person suffering from a knee injury, Nick hopes that Rublev is fine for his next match.
Nick Kyrgios has an amazing record against the top 8 members in the ATP Finals
Australian Nick Kyrgios made his television debut by commentating for the Tennis Channel. He has had a forgetful year of not being able to play tennis. However, despite this, the Australian holds a mindblowing record against the players who have qualified for the Nitto ATP Finals.
Kyrgios is one of the few players who is leading in the H2H matches against world number Novak Djokovic. Both have played a total of 3 times and the Australian won 2 of those times and lost in the 2022 Wimbledon Finals.
He even has a good 4:1 H2H lead against both Stefanos Tsitsipas and Daniil Medvedev. The only player in the top 8 to have beaten him is Jannik Sinner. The world number 2 Carlos Alcaraz has still not faced the Australian but it is a matchup to look out for in the future as Nick has a lot of potential in him to shock the world.
