The 2024 Australian Open finals are quickly becoming one of the instant classics. World No. 3 Daniil Medvedev and World No. 4 Jannik Sinner are fighting for the maiden Grand Slam title of the season. While the Russian has still won a Major, the fourth seed is looking for his first title on the big stage.
Medvedev made a great start winning both the first sets. He raced to a 2-0 lead as Sinner looked visibly nervous and overwhelmed with the occasion. He found his footing late in the second set and made use of it to win set numbers 3 and 4.
Discussions of a repeat of the 2022 Australian Open finals had started as Sinner made the comeback. Medvedev had won the first two sets in the 2022 finals as well but Rafael Nadal made an epic comeback to win the AO for the second time in his career. It was also the 21st Major of the Spaniard becoming the first man to achieve it.
Amid this, Nick Kyrgios got dragged into the conversation. A Twitter user made a wild comparison claiming the Russian is just a better version of the Aussie. The comment quickly got the attention of the former World No. 13 and he did not shy away from sending a reply.

The claim made by Kyrgios wasn’t wrong as he led the head-to-head 4-1 against Medvedev. The only win for the Russian came in the 2022 Australian Open’s second round.
The only finals meeting between the two was also won by the Aussie at the 2019 Citi Open in Washington.
