“No, he doesn’t deserve”, Nick Kyrgios reignites feud with Bernard Tomic suggesting he shouldnt be given a wildcard for Australian Open

Australian tennis professionals Nick Kyrgios and Bernard Tomic have been having a verbal duel throughout this year. In the newest addition to the chapter, Nick Kyrgios has mocked Tomic suggesting that he should not get a wildcard for the upcoming Australian Open tournament. The 27-year-old was responding to a fan’s comment asking whether Tomic deserves a wildcard.
Kyrgios and Tomic have an ongoing saga of some fiery exchanges this year which started when Tomic challenged Kyrgios to a million-dollar match or even a boxing bout. Kyrgios was quick to turn down the challenge saying he had better things to do in the tennis world. Tomic in return to one of the salvos, called him “obsessed” and “scared.”
In the latest addition, Kyrgios went a step further in mocking Tomic and made it clear that the currently 462nd-ranked player is far away from making the main draw cut for the Australian Open. Earlier this week, Tennis Australia announced six Australian players who have been awarded with a main draw wildcard.
“Surely Tomic deserves a wildcard?” one fan’s tweet read. Kyrgios replied that with,” “Hahahahaha NO HE DOESNT.”
Nick Kyrgios expects a successful upcoming 2023 season
Nick Kyrgios has one of the greatest years of his career in 2022. At the beginning of the year, he won the Australian Open doubles with Thanasi Kokkinakis. Kyrgios also made his maiden Grand Slam singles final appearance at Wimbledon this year eventually losing to Serbian great Novak Djokovic. With his great performances, Kyrgios ended the year ranked in the Top 20.
So, the 27-year-old who is yet to win a singles major title will have the burden of high expectations on his shoulders going into the 2023 season. Kyrgios is expected to participate in the United Cup doubles tournament scheduled to start at the end of December. This will help the Aussie prepare for the Australian Open.
During an interview, Kyrgios said ” There’s nothing better than to play the Australian summer is one of my favorite times of the year. “ Kyrgios will be hoping to make the 2023 season even more successful than 2022 by winning a Grand Slam at the start of the year. Earlier, Kyrgios also announced that he will be participating at the French Open after a gap of five years.
