21-time grand slam champion Novak Djokovic has had a very tough year but things are finally falling into place for him now. He won the Astana Open after beating Stefanos Tsitsipas in the final. This was his 4th title of the season. Djokovic had to miss the Australian Open and the Golden Swing earlier this year due to his vaccination status and despite that, he managed to win Wimbledon a couple of months ago.

He was once again denied entry into the USA as a result of which he missed the North-American Swing including that US Open. Djokovic has time and again made it clear that he doesn’t intend to get vaccinated and is ready to bear the consequences of his decision. Tennis legend Patrick McEnroe, who follows the sport closely, said in an abrupt tweet claiming that Djokovic’s absence from the tennis circles made the tournaments interesting.

“One positive from Novak Djokovic missing the Australian Open and the US Open in 2022…. There is much more interest in the tournaments being played in this part of the calendar,” McEnroe tweeted.

While Patrick McEnroe may not have exactly meant what he tweeted, it sure sounds very wrong and demeaning towards Djokovic. Nolefam and other tennis fans questioned McEnroe’s thoughts and called him out for spreading hate toward Novak Djokovic. They also questioned him how can a player’s absence, who is supposedly the best in the world, be any good for the sport.
