Former World No 1 Martina Navratilova has inspired millions of people in her career of almost four decades. She is one of the greatest female players who has played a major role in popularizing women’s tennis. The former American legend has always advocated for gender equality and stood up for equal rights for LGBTQ+ community individuals. This time, she complained about a famous journalist’s thoughts on gender equality in tennis.
Apart from her association with tennis, she has actively participated in various political debates and discussions. Despite facing constant criticism for her harsh words, she never pays any heed to any of them. She believes in addressing what she believes in. The retired tennis player always believes in practicing the power of freedom of speech. And she rightly does it often through her social media posts.
She has always owned up regarding her sexual orientation. One of the journalist’s words suggested that gender has nothing to do when it comes to winning in tennis. However, Navratilova disliked the words. She however made a surprising claim while claiming, “That’s not correct about the science. Not moving any goal posts- what I said is that no woman can beat all men but hundreds of men can beat all women. Fact.”
But the tennis player brought out a strong point to end the debate. She admitted that no female athlete has even defeated a top 100-ranked male player. The former 18-time Grand Slam champion took to Twitter to share a series of tweets to express her unfiltered opinions.
