Serbian champ Novak Djokovic equaled Rafael Nadal’s record of 22 Grand Slam titles with the 2023 Australian Open triumph. The 35-year-old produced a phenomenal performance throughout the tournament in the face of various challenges including a hamstring injury. But in the end, he defied all the odds and claimed the 10th title Down Under.

Still, Djokovic falls short when it comes to the perception battle. There is no clear explanation for the existing bias against him compared to his contemporaries, especially Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer. No matter how much he tries, there are some corners where the Serb just doesn’t get the love and support he definitely deserves.

Russia has issued statements in the past claiming that its government hasn’t committed any atrocities against Ukraine. And that attempts to bar its athletes from competing in major events were “doomed to fail.” This isn’t the first time Svitolina has put forth her views concerning the athlete ban. Russian and Belarusian participation in the 2022 US Open Championships has greatly upset her.

French doctor Olivier Rouillon is one of them. Rouillon, who was the doctor for the French Golf Federation, questioned the severity of the injury. He suggested that the injury must have been just a little grade 1 lesion and not a tear, which could have been controlled with some painkillers.

Fans slam the doctor for his open bias against Novak Djokovic

If he had a major tear, no more pain after two or three days, despite the “miraculous” techniques you told me about, that seems unlikely. You may have a squeaky hamstring with minimal injury“, Rouillon has said. The comment did not go well with the fans of Djokovic.

Earlier the same doctor commended Rafael Nadal for his ‘extraordinary tolerance for suffering.’ These contradictory opinions clearly reveal the bias against Djokovic when it comes to injury. Novak Djokovic’s fans were quick to point this out.“They’re not even trying to be subtle,” one of the fans wrote. “Is the doctor biased or just another Rafan,”. Take a look at other interesting reactions.
