Novak Djokovic has had a little breather, as he competed at the 2023 Davis Cup recently. This came just days after his victory over Daniil Medvedev in the finals of the 2023 US Open, as he claimed his 24th Grand Slam title. The Serbian, however, had mixed feelings about his recent success. He stated that the past week had been difficult and exciting at the same time. Djokovic had cut short his celebrations in order to compete for his country at the Davis Cup.

“It was difficult. Everything happened quickly in the past few days. I was so happy about the victory in New York, the celebration at home,” said the 36-year-old in the recent presser. The Serbian believes that the objective of reaching the last eight has been achieved, as Serbia claimed a 3-0 victory over Spain. Djokovic revealed that it gives him the greatest satisfaction to play for his home country. The Serbian asserted that the Davis Cup remains among his top priorities, just like Grand Slam titles. Serbia will compete in the knockout stages, which is scheduled to be held in November in Malaga.

” I came to another family, the Serbian team, it always gives me the greatest joy and wonderful emotions to be able to play for the national team The Grand Slams and the Davis Cup are the biggest priorities. The goal has been met, we are in the Top 8, I hope we will continue in the right direction,” said Djokovic in the press conference.

The Serbian will be looking forward to a nice break, as he will look to plan his schedule for the upcoming indoor hard-court season. The veteran has had a busy summer, where he reached the finals of the French Open, Wimbledon and the US Open. He also claimed the 2023 Cincinnati Masters title, where he defeated Alcaraz in a four-set final that lasted for almost four hours.
