World No. 1 Novak Djokovic has reached the absolute top at the helm of the sport after his sparkling form this season. It is a season counting three Grand Slam titles, two Masters titles, and at last topping it off with an ATP Finals title as well. After his victory over local boy Jannik Sinner in the final on Sunday, Djokovic talked about his plans for the future.
At the post-match press conference, Djokovic revealed his goals and aims for the future and the targets he has set for himself for the coming day. For a player like Nole, things can get really tough at the end of your career to keep on going when there are hardly any more achievements to accomplish. He talked about the motivating factor revealing how he still has the drive to excel in the upcoming years as well.
Djokovic said:
Well, you can win four Slams and Olympic gold. I have always the highest ambitions and goals. That's not going to be different for the next year, that's for sure. The drive that I have is still there. My body has been serving me well, listening to me well. I have a great team of people around me. Motivation, especially for the biggest tournaments in sport, is still present. It still inspires me to keep going.
Novak Djokovic talks about his missing piece in the trophy cabinet
There is hardly any trophy or title that the great Djokovic has failed to lift or win in his illustrious career, but the veteran is still deprived of a golden medal at the Olympics. The Serb talked about his ultimate goal next year as he looks to target the missing piece in his trophy cabinet at the Paris Olympics next summer.
He said,
For me, obviously those are Grand Slams and World Tour Finals, and next year hopefully also Olympic Games. The mindset is the same. I'll keep going. I don't know whether I'm going to have as good of a year next year, but I'm going to keep this kind of freshness of mind & motivation to do that.
Djokovic attested he is still hungry for more and is confident of undergoing the same success next year that he has accomplished this season.
