23-time Grand Slam title winner Novak Djokovic will be breaking records for fun whenever he gets on the court from now on, considering the number of achievements and accolades he has already stacked up in his career. With his eyes on one of the major records that have been held by Australian tennis legend Margaret Court for over a few decades now.

For the uninitiated, Court holds the record for the most Grand Slam singles titles, regardless of the male or female category, with 24 Grand Slam titles. Djokovic, who is 23 years old, had the golden opportunity to equal the record when he got to the final at the Wimbledon Championship two months ago but lost to Carlos Alcaraz.

Djokovic said, “I am not thinking about Court’s 24 Slam titles. I was close in London, but lost to a better player. I know a lot of people wanted our match again here. Every time I’m in a Slam final, it’s a shot at history, but I can’t think too much about it.” But it’s no secret how ambitious a player he is, and he would be adamant about winning the title on Sunday, trying to build on a new record.

Novak has been in scintillating form even at this phase of his career, where other stars seem to lose their flair and touch. Aged 36, he has been breaking records every now and then, and whenever he sets foot on the court, it’s a sight to behold for all the record holders. Last night, after beating Shelton, he achieved yet another feat, now equaling a record that Roger Federer has held for far too long.

Having reached all the finals of the four Grand Slams, he has become the second player to have done so three times in their career. Federer was the only one to have done this in three different years, and for Novak to do so even at this age simply sums up his dedication and hunger. With age, the Serbian is just getting better and better, with the young stars still finding it hard to knock the old horse out of competition.
