Novak Djokovic breaches the $180M mark in career prize money, leads by nearly $50M over second ranked Rafael Nadal

Novak Djokovic had one of the best seasons of his career in 2023. Even in the twilight of his career, Nole went all guns blazing this season. The Serbian won three major Grand Slam titles, along with the ATP Tour Finals.
Winning the Australian Open, the French Open, and the US Open, besides reaching the finals of Wimbledon, has been his major highlight of the season.
The veteran Serb shattered various records during the 2023 season. The record for having the greatest number of Grand Slam titles as well as the player having the greatest number of ATP Finals is all his now after this season.
Nole adds another silver lining to his armor, becoming the first ever tennis player to breach the prize money amount of $180 million. He was already the first one to breach the $140 million mark.
The Serb entered the ATP Tour finals with a prize of $176,231,853. With his solid performance and beating Jannik Sinner to clinch his seventh ATP Tour Finals title, Djokovic earned a payday of $4,411,500 for lifting the trophy. This win took his prize money combined to a mammoth $180 million.
Novak Djokovic continues to shatter records
As the 2023 season ends, Novak Djokovic has stood alone at the top of the list of prize money leaders with a massive $180 million. The Spaniard Rafael Nadal is second to Nole. However, there is a huge gap of $50 million between the top leaders.
It is because the Spaniard has missed a lot of tournaments across his career with injuries. The third of the ‘Big Three’, Roger Federer, is third on the list with $130.6 million.
Serena Williams is the first female on the list. The 23-time Grand Slam title winner is fourth on the list with $94.8 million. The 36-year-old British player, Andy Murray, holds the fifth position on the list with $64.2 million.
The 14-time major singles title winner, Pete Sampras, is sixth on the list with$44.3 million. Venus Williams, Simona Halep, Maria Sharapova, and Alexander Zverev are the next four on thelist,t with prize money of $42.6 million, $40.2 million, $38.8 million, and $37.8 million, respectively.
