Novak Djokovic had fitting words for winning his eighth ATP year-end World No.1 trophy. He is the first-ever male tennis player to do so. Djokovic had emerged from a truly rough area in his 2022 season to get back on top the next year. He has proven many times that he is one of the best tennis players in the sport’s history.

The 24-time Grand Slam champion is the leading contender for the Greatest Of All Time of tennis. He is the only male tennis player to reach the 24-title mark. The Serb had to face Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal in their peaks to win titles.

While a flustering rivalry was going on between the trio, Federer had announced his retirement from the sport. Nadal was put on the sidelines due to his struggles in the hands of injury. This made him the last of the Big-3 remaining on the tour this year. However, he proved that he was still going strong, despite the withdrawal of his rivals by winning three Grand Slam titles this year.

Despite this year being only one of the eight years he has finished as the year-end No.1, he has still not lost the joy of finishing on top. He called the year-end No.1 title the crown of the season as he explained the level of significance the title held to not only him but tennis players in general.

He called winning Grand Slam titles and being the No.1 in the world as two of the toughest things to do in the sport.

It's been a very long year for all the players and to be standing here is a blessing.

As the Serb won his first round-robin match against Holger Rune, he was guaranteed the year-end No.1 title. However, with his winning three Majors and two Masters 1000 titles, he was well-deserving of the sport’s top award.
