Former French tennis player Gilles Simon recently opined in an interview that Novak Djokovic will not be able to reach 30 Grand Slam titles by the time he ends his career. Despite praising the player very highly and agreeing that the Serb does things that are simply brilliant, the 38-year-old thinks that it is just not practically possible for Djokovic to win 6 more Grand Slam events.

Djokovic is 36 years old, and he won three out of four Grand Slam events this year too, namely the Australian Open, French Open, and the US Open. He would have won the Wimbledon Open as well had it not been for Carlos Alcaraz’s sensational performance.

Even at this age, the Serb seems unstoppable and thus many experts and fans alike are of the opinion that he might win three or more Majors for two more seasons, thus realizing the goal of 30 Grand Slam titles. However, Gilles Simon is a dissenter in this debate.

I'm waiting to see the following years. I don't see him winning 30 Grand Slams for example. There are some who see him winning three per year for two more seasons. Personally, I don't think so. I wish him, because I have nothing against him but I don’t see him like that

Gilles Simon praises Novak Djokovic for being ‘ultra professional

Although Simon does not think that Djokovic can practically keep on playing until he has 30 Grand Slam titles, he has praised him as a player and identified his smartness in picking the most important tournaments.

Simon also said that Djokovic knows how to prepare. Simon strongly feels that if there is one player who could make it possible it is the Serbian ace. Sadly, the physical toll of a sport like tennis is most likely to stop him from doing that.

He plays very little, he concentrates on the most important tournaments. He is so strong that he knows how to prepare. But he can no longer continue. If everything was going so well, all the time, he would play every week like when he was 25. He is careful, he is ultra professional, very strong, there is no need to say it. There he won the US Open, it was important for him. I see him perhaps winning one or two Grand Slams next year.

Djokovic is currently focusing solely on the 2023 Paris Masters, where he has already reached the semifinals. He beat Holger Rune in the quarterfinals after a fierce battle and will now face Andrey Rublev in the semifinals.
