The past 24 hours have just gone by so fast for the Serbian tennis star, Novak Djokovic, from cruising past Daniil Medvedev in the US Open final to enjoying it out with his family. He has finally achieved his 24th Grand Slam title, and it has come at an age where many stars start to fade away. The longevity and perseverance of the great man don’t stop here, as he has finally announced his participation in the upcoming Davis Cup as well.

With the Davis Cup beginning next week, Serbia is set to face Spain, South Korea, and the Czech Republic in what is a very tough group for Novak’s side. Novak will lead his nation as captain with the likes of Laslo Djere, Miomir Kecmanovic, Dusan Lajovic, and Hamad Mededovic in what looks like a very good side to ensure their qualification to the next stage.

The last and only time Serbia managed to get their hands on the title was way back in 2010. Novak will look to build on his tennis legacy by winning another Davis Cup for his nation before he retires. This year is the perfect time for the great man to achieve the feat, as he is in devastating form and just at the right age before age catches up with his body.

Carlos Alcaraz, who was set to lead the Spanish side in the upcoming Davis Cup, pulled away from the tournament just hours after his semi-final loss against Daniil Medvedev at the US Open. The tennis fans were very excited to see how he fared against Novak Djokovic in the upcoming week when Spain would face Serbia in their first match of the group stage.

Now that Novak is confirmed for the Davis Cup and in high spirits to compete in the tournament, it might provoke Carlos to come back into the side and take back his leadership. Carlos has had the better of Djokovic twice in the four matches they have played against one another, and his comeback into the Davis Cup might ensure yet another classic encounter for tennis fans around the world.
