One would come to the notion that the mighty and invincible 24-time Grand Slam title champion, Novak Djokovic, has no fears when it comes to his tennis career. However, the World No. 1 has recently opened up about what he fears the most despite winning every title there is to win in his career.

The ITF World Champion for the year 2023 recently, in an exclusive interview with ’60 Minutes, disclosed that his biggest fear remains losing a match and letting himself, his team, and fans down by not performing up to their expectations. 

I fear to lose a match. I fear to maybe let myself down. I fear to let my coach down. I fear I doubt that I can deliver the game that everyone expects me to deliver, right?

The seven-time Wimbledon champion directly implied how he feels the burden of performance and the need to be his absolute best as people from all over the world come to watch him perform.

And there are fans that came, maybe the first and only time they’re gonna watch you. So it’s a lot of expectations and pressure you have to deal with when you’re walking out on the court as one of the best players in the world. They all expect the highest and best of you.
Talking about the pressure, Nole added

The 2023 season has probably been one of the best seasons for the 24-time Grand Slam champion. Apart from winning three Grand Slams this year, Nole also went ahead to secure the World No. 1 position for the eighth time in his career. He has still not lost his hunger and passion for titles as he gears up for another exciting season next year.

Novak Djokovic’s habit of creating and breaking records does not die so easily. The World No. 1 was recently announced the ITF World Champion for a record-breaking 8th time, as he went past the German former great tennis player, Steffi Graf, who won the award seven times in her career. His dominating and sensational 2023 performance has earned him this award.

Nole has won three out of the four Grand Slam finals that he played in this season. He also won a record-breaking 7th ATP Finals title, overtaking the Swiss legend Roger Federer. It will be really exciting to see how he maintains this dominating performance in the upcoming 2024 season.
