Serbian tennis legend Novak Djokovic has 23 Grand Slams to his credit and the 36-year-old is still giving a hard time to his 15 year younger opponents while looking for a 24th. While Djokovic is counted among the best to have played the game of tennis, there are his critics too. Among many, Rennae Stubbs has been so consistent in criticizing the Serbian. 

Be it about his stance against vaccination or his conduct on the court, Stubbs has often been critical of Djokovic. However, all of it went for a toss when the Australian took Djokovic’s on-court interview after his win over Taylor Fritz in the 2023 US Open quarterfinals. Stubbs asked Djokovic many questions ranging from his favorite drink to if his haircut helped him move better on the court.

She also addressed Djokovic as “my friend” it clearly did not sit well with the Serbian’s fans who called out Stubbs for being a “hypocrite”. Novak Djokovic fans, who prefer to be called a part of ‘Nolefam’ thrashed Rennae Stubbs left, right, and center and even urged the organizers to send someone else to interview the Serbian. 

“Hey @usopen, do you have any other person on court who can go & interview the players than one who did a podcast being openly discriminatory towards the nation of the player that person is interviewing? I’m volunteering and I’m sure millions would too. Please, change that person,” wrote one user on X.

Fans want no more of Rennae Stubbs interviewing Novak Djokovic

While Nolefam’s demand to remove Rennae Stubbs from taking Djokovic’s on-court interview could not be met on Tuesday, they have put forth a demand to remove the Australina from the panel itself. Novak Djokovic fans have claimed that Rennae Stubbs is terrible at taking interviews and hence should not be on the panel.

While Nolefam’s demand will be met or not is a thing to ponder about, what can be said for sure is that Novak Djokovic has forced his criticis to go into a shell with his performance. After making three finals at first three Grand Slams and winning two of them, Djokovic gets ready to qualify for another Grand Slam final as he faces Ben Shelton in the semifinals.
