Recent data released by Eurosport sheds light on the number of weeks the top male players of tennis have spent as World No.1. The statistics offered an insight that has led the ‘Nolefam’ (fan group of Novak Djokovic) to take a jibe at Spanish legend, Rafael Nadal.
As per Eurosports, Novak Djokovic stands at the highest with a total of 394 weeks as the World No. 1. It should be noted that he is again currently at the pinnacle of his ranking, whereas his contemporaries have either retired or are nowhere near him. Nadal, on the other hand, who is also one of Djokovic’s known rivals, spent 209 weeks as world numero uno.
But what actually caught the attention of the fans and the tennis world is the data relating to 20-year-old Carlos Alcaraz. The young tennis sensation has spent an impressive 36 weeks at the top position. If an analysis of this data is done, then it can be observed that Alcaraz’s number of weeks put him closer to the tally of Nadal’s 209 weeks. The interesting aspect is, that Alcaraz is closer to Nadal than Nadal is to Djokovic. This cements Djokovic’s position as an all-time relevant player.
Other intriguing takeaways from the data include Andy Murray‘s remarkable 41 weeks as world champion and the hard-court prodigy, Daniil Medvedev‘s 16 weeks on the pinnacle.
