Defending champion Novak Djokovic was up against a young Dino Prizmic in his first-round match at the Australian Open.

The crowd also stayed up late in the night to witness the best in business in action but got to see another masterpiece from the young Croatian.

What came to be a nail-biter of a match started with a warm sense of sportsmanship from the 37-year-old Djokovic.

Both players were heading to the court when the 18-year-old took a wrong turn but was soon stopped by Djokovic, who was just a few steps behind him. 

Nudging the youngster in the right direction, both players walked through the Hall of Fame corridor before setting foot onto the court.

This simple act of humanity serves as a sense of respect the players have for each other. Djokovic, understanding the nerves inside the youngster, who was playing his first Grand Slam match, set him on the right path before switching back to his rival mode as soon as he set foot on the court. 

Both of them gave each other a tough time throughout the match but it was Djokovic who prevailed at the end.

He was up against a young Dino Prizmic, who qualified for the main draw for the first time in his budding career.

However, as young as the Croatian might seem, he is full of fiery energy that resonated in the Rod Laver Arena.

With some incredible shots, he got the pace going before getting into his zone and even winning a set over the 10-time Australian Open winner. This got the Serbian all fired up who is evidently seen frustrated. Both of them gave each other a tough time throughout the match but it was Djokovic who prevailed at the end.

Despite the frustration, the Serbian managed to keep it together and pull a few breaks to eventually win the match. The youngster who had incredible records in the boy’s league managed to qualify for the Australian Open main draw.

In a thriller of a match, the youngster displayed his wide range of shots to give a tight competition to Djokovic. In the end, it was the Serbian who prevailed but the youngster took away more from the match.
