Tennis legend Rod Laver has some high expectations from the reigning World No. 1. He believes that Novak Djokovic will come back stronger after a shocking loss at the semifinals of the Australian Open. The Serbian who slipped off his three-year unbeaten streak at Melbourne was disappointed with his performance, but the Aussie legend has hopes riding on him.

The contest between Novak Djokovic and Jannik Sinner generated comments from the media, both insiders and fans, with many speculating Djokovic’s loss as a generational change. The Serbian had defeated the Italian at the Nitto ATP Finals in Turin. Sinner revenge on the defeat in Melbourne, making sure that Djokovic’s 25th Grand Slam win was postponed.

However, some Serbian media have attributed Djokovic defeat to flu problems that limited his performance at the Australian Open while crediting Sinner’s classic performance. Djokovic still maintained his World No.1 position with a few points above the Italian youngster, who seats at third position.

Rod Laver, a former legendary Australian tennis player, who won 11 singles Majors, feels Novak Djokovic will come back stronger. Adding that he will dominate the Grand Slam tournaments and will be ready to defeat the younger generation players.

Novak is an incredible champion. He constantly fuels his mental strength and motivation. Precisely for this reason and for all the successes he has achieved in his career it is expected that he can always win every match. After the defeat, Djokovic stated that he doesn’t feel the push to retire but will continue playing and hoping the season ends well. Nevertheless, the pressure set on the shoulders of the 36-year-old to quit pushing for titles will not yield after every major defeat.
