Novak Djokovic clashed with Daniil Medvedev of Russia in the final-round match of the 2023 US Open. The World No. 3 left no stone unturned against Djokovic and gave him a tough fight. Second seed Serbian, however, thrashed his opponent out of the way with his steadfastness on court, to win the championship. Right after his win, Djokovic shared a sweet moment with his daughter.

On winning the final game in the third set, Djokovic immediately went off to the courtside and embraced his daughter, Tara, who was there in the stands. The emotional moment between the father-daughter duo amidst cheers in the Arthur Ashe Stadium captured many hearts. The Serb then climbed up the player’s box to hug his wife and then his parents.

The win at the 2023 US Open marks Novak Djokovic’s fourth title win at the Flushing Meadows. With his Grand Slam Majors tally now at 24, he beat Serena Williams‘ record to now equal Margaret Court‘s record of Majors at singles events. Djokovic also dethrones the current World No.1, Carlos Alcaraz on Monday to become the top seed once again.

In the final-round match on Sunday at the last Slam of the year, Djokovic faced Medvedev who gave him a tough fight. The Russian, in an attempt to tire Serb, played long rallies that began taking a toll on Nole. The Serbian ace, however, did not lose sight of his target and beat Medvedev in the first set. The Russian as well, took advantage of Djokovic being tired in the second set to score 6 games.

The 36-year-old, who had his eyes set on the prize, did not let his opponent dominate. He ousted the 27-year-old out of competition, scoring a 6-3, 7-6(5), 6-3 victory over three sets.

Djokovic began dating his high school sweetheart, Jelena, back in 2005, two years after he turned Pro. The couple dated for eight years and announced their engagement in September 2013. They got married the next year on the 10th of July, 2014, four days after Djokovic won his second Wimbledon title.

Novak and Jelena were blessed with their first child, their son Stefan, in October 2014. The two became parents for a second time on the 9th of September, 2017, with the birth of their daughter, Tara. The kids, along with their mother, often turn up at their dad’s matches to cheer for him. Along with Novak’s children and family, his father, Srdjan Djokovic and mother, Dijana Djokovic, also turn up to support their son during his matches.
