Novak Djokovic

Novak Djokovic is one of the greatest tennis players in the world and is an intrinsic part of The Big Three. Often dubbed the Serbian legend, Novak Djokovic is all set for the ATP Finals 2022 with an aim of equalling Roger Feder’s record for the most number of titles won at the year-end championship against the top 8 players as per the ATP rankings.

Despite facing two semifinal defeats in the last two years, the tennis sensation says he is feeling all fresh and ready to give the 2022 season a perfect ending. As per the Serbian player himself, he doesn’t feel as young and energetic as other Nitto 2022 ATP Finals opponents, but he is motivated to give his best on the court. For those unitiated, Novak Djokovics is currently the second-oldest player of the eight prominent players competing in the year-end tournament, after 36 year old Spanish top seed Rafael Nadal.

The Serbian had a tough year. However, he wants to end the season well. In an interview before starting his campaign at the ATP Finals 2022 in Turin, the 21-time Grand Slam champion weighed his chances in the season-ending competition.

“a perfect ending. The cherry on the cake, for sure, but it’s a long way. It’s a long week. You’ve got to play the best players in the world. You have to play more or less everyone in this tournament at least once, so I look forward to it,” he told the ATP Media, as reported by Eurosport.

Counting on his experience to win the prestigious title, he noted, “I’ve had experience in this tournament, in this format, many times and hopefully that can serve me in a good way,”

He is ready to take the challenge of the youngsters who are drawn into his group. He is looking positively to gaining the most from this event. He is drawn with Stefanos Tsitsipas, Daniil Medvedev, and Andrey Rublev in the Green Group.

“There is a hype around this tournament. It’s the last week of the year on the Tour, it’s kind of a last sprint, if you will, for all of us. From the very first match you are going to have extra high intensity, so each one of us is trying to get ready as best as possible but also to enjoy these few days before the tournament starts,” The nine-time Australian Open champion said.

He will be starting his ATP Finals campaign on November 14 against Stefanos Tsitsipas.

“I played him in the past two tournaments I played, in the final in Astana and the semi-finals in Paris. Both matches were quite close, particularly the one in Paris. I know that I am expecting a tough match without a doubt,” The Serb was very candid about his encounter.

The ATP Finals tournament will be played between 13th November to 20th November this year.
