The Wimbledon Semifinal match between reigning champion Novak Djokovic and Italy’s Jannik Sinner is a rematch of their historic quarterfinal encounter from last year at the same major. Today’s match, however, wasn’t without its fair share of drama and controversy.
Handed a controversial hindrance call at a crucial point during the second set, Djokovic managed to regroup and win the set 6–4. In yet another incident during the final stages of the third set, Djokovic responded to the crowd disturbing him during his service routine. This led to an already polarized crowd booing him and backing Sinner to break his serve.
After a clutch game during the 3rd set to level the score at 5-5, which saw Sinner squander 2 set points against the Serb, the Italian vented his frustration by hitting the racket on his hip. Having just saved two set points, Djokovic had a choice response to give to the crowd and his opponent’s loss of composure.
Djokovic ridiculed the crowd and his opponent by pretending to cry after winning the game

As expected, fans on Twitter responded to the hilarious gesture by Djokovic and claimed that it’s tit-for-tat for a crowd that has been largely against Djokovic for no apparent reason. Sharing a wide spectrum of reactions online, here’s what fans have to say:
