The 2023 ATP Awards recently announced the winners of various categories like favorite coach, best-returning player, and more. Many players were nominated for various awards, and a few even managed to win appreciation.

Jannik Sinner is one of the players who managed to win an award for himself, and his team also gets credit for their hard work throughout the year. His coaches, Darren Cahill and Simone Vagnozzi, won the award for coach of the year.

Even World No. 1 Novak Djokovic appreciated the coaches for their efforts before making a statement of his own. The Serbian took to his Instagram to leave a message for his coach, indirectly calling out the ATP.

Goran, I guess we need to win 4/4 Slams in order for you to maybe(just maybe) be considered coach of the year. Winning Year End #1, 3 GS and WTF and making history of this sport is not enough, my dear coach.
Said the world number 1 via Instagram.

Djokovic sarcastically suggests that he and his team must win the 4/4 Grand Slam to win awards, even after having such a phenomenal year with multiple tournament wins. Even after breaking milestones and creating histories in the sport, the 36-year-old was unable to win an award, and neither was his coach, Goran Ivanisevic.

Novak Djokovic fails to bag an award even after an exceptional year

World No. 1 Novak Djokovic has dominated his league throughout the year, only losing a couple of times. Even after he won numerous tournaments and scripted history, the Serb was unable to bag the Fans’ Favorite Player award

Even after climbing multiple mountains, the 36-year-old has never been a favorite among the majority of the fans. Roger Federer, who has always had the love of fans, has won the Fan’s Favorite award numerous times, while his rival Rafael Nadal won the award after Federer retired.

However, Djokovic is still yet to win it, as this year he also lacked the votes, and the award went to the Italian youngster Jannik Sinner. There is no doubt that the Italian has been incredible throughout the year, and that has won him the majority of fans. Djokovic is now gearing up to do better next season, which starts in January.

While you can witness the World No. 1 play in an exhibition match, Djokovic will eye all the titles next year, including winning gold at the prestigious Paris Olympics.
