Serbian tennis icon Novak Djokovic posted a heartfelt note on social media to wish his former physio on his birthday. Ulises Badio was a familiar face in the box Djokovic for many years before they parted ways in 2022. Now the 22-time Grand Slam champion has thanked him for all the support. 

Badio has been a member of Djokovic’s team between 2017 and 2022. During the collaboration, Badio helped Djokovic overcome many physical challenges including elbow issues. Badio was replaced by Claudio Zimaglia, who previously helped Milos Raonic and Jannik Sinner.

I have been fortunate to have you by my side for many years.  Thanks, friend. I send you a big hug. Happy birthday,” Djokovic’s post read, peppered with some emojis.

Novak Djokovic denied exemption to enter the US for Sunshine Double

The speculations around Novak Djokovic’s participation in the Sunshine Double ended after the Serb’s exemption request was denied. Florida Senator Rick Scott confirmed the news through his official Twitter handle. An official confirmation from the tournaments is still awaited. 

This is a repeat of the last year’s ordeal for the World No. 1. Djokovic has been in great form since the beginning of the 2023 season and would have been a favorite in Indian Wells and Miami Open as well if not for the ban. 

Recently Djokovic made the return to the court in Dubai after his historic Australian Open triumph. Although his run was interrupted in the semifinals by former World No. 1 Daniil Medvedev. Now, Djokovic will compete in Monte Carlo Masters which will start in the second week of April.
