The world No.1, Novak Djokovic breaks yet another Open Era record yesterday after his latest win over Hubert Hurkacz in the ATP Dubai Tennis Championships 2023. The Serbian recently surpassed Steffi Graf to become the player to remain world No.1 for the longest time. He is currently in his 378th week of being world No.1. In addition to these, earlier this year, he equaled Rafael Nadal with 22 Grand Slam titles and became the second ATP player to win 22 Grand Slam titles and also the most in men’s singles.

Shortly after entering the 378th week of No.1, his win in the quarterfinals of the ATP 500 in Dubai helped him achieve his 20th consecutive win. This is his 10th time to win 20 or more matches in succession in his career. Djokovic hence became the first player in Open Era to achieve this feat.

A list of records Novak Djokovic currently holds

Novak Djokovic is part of a group of eight who have accomplished the Career Grand Slam and one of four who have achieved the Double Career Grand Slam. He is distinguished in tennis history as the only player to concurrently hold all four major titles on three distinct surfaces. Moreover, he has become the sole player to triumph in all four majors, each of the nine ATP Masters 1000 tournaments, and the ATP Tour Finals during their career, and he has achieved this milestone twice.

He has set a record for reaching 33 Grand Slam finals and for competing in the final of each Grand Slam tournament no fewer than six times, an unsurpassed achievement. In addition, he has secured six ATP Tour Finals championships, with a streak of four consecutive titles from 2012 to 2015 that stands as an unparalleled feat.

The world No.1 will be facing Daniil Medvedev in the semifinals of the ATP Dubai Tennis Championships and looks to extend his win record. However, an in-form Medvedev will certainly not make it easy for the 35-year-old. However, it will be a final kind of match between two in-form players and a treat to watch for the fans.
