Weeks after winning the historic 24th Grand Slam title at the US Open, Serbian legend Novak Djokovic dropped the tennis rackets in exchange for golf clubs to take part in the All-Star match of the Ryder Cup in Rome. He is playing alongside professional golfer Kipp Popert. Djokovic, along with a few famous sports names like Gareth Bale and Carlos Sainz, were invited to feature in this year’s Ryder Cup.
During the tournament, Djokovic was seen asking to be clicked with professional English golfer Tommy Fleetwood. He seemed to be an avid fan of the golfer and the two clicked a picture together. Ryder Cup Europe’s X account posted the video of same.
Novak Djokovic revealed how he started preparing for golf in an interview. He admitted to having been practicing more golf in the past 10 days so as to not embarrass himself by struggling to play golf in front of a huge crowd. The Serb also talked about being an avid follower of golf and how he watches the sport whenever he gets time.
Djokovic is currently taking a much-needed break from tennis to clear his mind and body for the upcoming season. In the meanwhile, he is participating in fun events like the Ryder Cup in Rome, before getting back on the tennis court.
Novak Djokovic continues to steal the limelight at the Ryder Cup
The 24-time Grand Slam Champion is known to be one of the most fun and humorous guys on and off the tennis court. Novak Djokovic has not failed to entertain the crowd in Rome as well. There were a number of funny instances surrounding the Serb, one of them being his ‘siu’ celebration after teeing the ball on the 3rd par. He was also seen struggling to remove the golf ball, which was stuck in the bushes.

Due to all his antics, at one point the crowd erupted with the chants of ‘Nole, Nole.’ His popularity is not just limited on the tennis court but off it as well. Djokovic and his team won the game 3-1 against their Spanish opponents.
The Serb had earlier announced his withdrawal from the China Open and will next be seen on the court at the Paris Masters. The Serbian stated that he will concentrate on the more important tournaments in the remaining season. One of his priorities is leading his nation to victory at the Davis Cup this year.
