In an interview with the Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera Novak Djokovic talked about a lot of things. He answered the questions that the Italian media had. The player was taunted by “Novax Djokocovid” amidst the Coivd allegations. “I am not a vax, and I have never said in my life that I am. I’m not even pro-vax. I am pro-choice. I defend freedom of choice. It is a fundamental human right to be free to decide what things to inject into one’s body and what not. I explained it once to the BBC on my return from Australia, but they eliminated many sentences, the ones that weren’t convenient. So I never spoke of this story again,” said Djokovic.
He further expressed that he always followed the rules. Novak Djokovic expressed that the reason he was not allowed to play at the Grand Slam in Australia became a political issue. Djokovic talked about being falsely labeled by the media as someone he was not. The big media abused their power and turned half of society against him. “I am labeled as persona non grata”, he added.
When asked about the place that they held him, Djokovic replied that it was like a prison. He expressed his disappointment about many players and even organizers turning against him. He said that he even missed two US Opens just to play by the rules.
Novak Djokovic: the player with the most number of losses as a World No.1
Novak Djokovic seems to be suffering from success as he becomes the player with the most losses registered as the World No. 1 player. This happened after his quarterfinal loss against Holger Rune in the Italian Open 2023. Djokovic has spent so much time as the World No. 1, and this was about to happen sometime. He has been ranked World No. 1 for a record 387 weeks in 12 different years.
The loss at the Italian Open was his 70th loss as the World No. 1. He was tied with Pete Sampras, who had 69 losses in his 286-week reign as World No. 1.
