Novak Djokovic, the Serbian legend and co-founder of the Professional Tennis Players Association (PTPA), has always been there for other players and tried to voice his opinions aloud using the resources he has. Recently, the 24-time Grand Slam champion acknowledged the positive strides made by the ATP in their initiatives for the benefit of players. However, he also expressed confidence that the PTPA would strive to exceed these efforts in the future.
Previously, the ATP had made the decision to raise the minimum wage for players who are unwell or facing difficulties. Novak Djokovic, who attributes this advancement to the council’s actions, has pledged that his organization will further enhance its efforts to assist a greater number of individuals in need.
“Here is the last one, where the ATP has increased the sums of money for players who are injured and are absent from the Tour. They are now guaranteed a certain amount of money. They took that step forward, which I welcome, of course. Is that step enough?” said Djokovic in the interview with Sportal.
Money has always been a huge issue in tennis as only the top players get a good amount of money whereas the others are not even able to pay for their basic needs like physios and coaches. Due to this struggle, PTPA was introduced to help these players get their basic needs met.

As an advocate of player rights, Novak Djokovic recognized the struggle of other players and helped create an organization that fulfills their basic needs. “I’m almost sure they did it because the PTPA and all the players support these initiatives and constantly communicate on that topic, they say how important it is to address it in the right way and to talk about things that are taboo topic,” said the Serb.
In light of the insufficiency of the ATP’s measures, Novak Djokovic voiced his honest opinion on the matter. He also revealed that PTPA is still working towards being a well-established company.
“There are a lot of things to change and a lot of work to be done, we are only at the beginning, we have only scratched the surface, but I am glad that the players recognize that we have good intentions and that all this is neither from my pocket nor from my pocket,” said Djokovic.
