Novak Djokovic and Ana Ivanovic have been friends for the longest time. From playing tennis together to cheering for each other, both Serbians have played a huge part in each other’s journeys.
Both players started tennis at the same age in Serbia and have represented their country multiple times in the past.
As a blast from the past, an old video of Djokovic and Ivanovic resurfaced on the internet. It was an interview in Madrid, and unlike any other interview, they got straight to the point. Upon witnessing the Serbians talking and spending some time together, their opening question was about their relationship.
The host asked the Serbians if they knew that in Spain when a boy plays tennis with a girl, it usually means that the boy likes the girl.
While Djokovic was translating this question to his compatriot, he said, “Next question, please.” while blushing. He smiled and immediately looked away, indicating that both of them were embarrassed by the question. The host did not poke the question any further and continued with his interview.
Ana Ivanovic’s heartfelt good luck wishes are suspected to have been bad luck for Novak Djokovic
Good friends and teammates Novak Djokovic and Ana Ivanovic have played tennis together since childhood before heading their ways and carving a career out of it.
Ahead of the 2024 Australian Open, the 2008 French Open winner got candid in an interview with ES Fancast. While talking about her life after retirement, the Serbian had a few words about her dear friend Djokovic ahead of his Australian Open campaign.
I can imagine that he’s going for Golden Slam, uh this year with Olympic year, he probably wants to try to go for grand slams and Olympic medal.Said the Serbian.
She couldn’t have been more wrong, as Djokovic played one of his worst matches during the Open and lost his shot at the Golden Slam. The 24-time Grand Slam title winner hoped to win all four slams as well as a gold medal at the Olympics but faced a heartbreaking loss at the Australian Open semi-finals against Jannik Sinner.
Nonetheless, Djokovic is obliged to move on from a tough loss and focus on the tournaments ahead. On the other hand, his friend Ivanovic is well-settled in her retirement life. Having started her skincare brand, the mother of two is delighted at where she is.
