The ATP released the winners of the 2023 awards, where many players and coaches won awards for different categories. While many players were nominated, Djokovic was not nominated for any of the awards. 

However, his coach, Goran Ivanisevic, was nominated for coach of the year, but alas, he lost the award to Jannik Sinner’s coaches.

Novak Djokovic posted a congratulatory post on his Instagram for Sinner’s teams while simultaneously praising his coach for the amazing year. However, this post brought with it loads of controversy.

Fans believe that Novak did this to put his coach and his achievements in the limelight. This is also compared to the famous Taylor Swift and Kanye West VMA incident, where Kanye did a very similar thing to that of Djokovic.

When Taylor Swift won the VMA Awards 10 years ago, Kanye West stole the show by praising his favorite singer while simultaneously congratulating Swift for her achievement.

On Twitter, the fans have connected the dots and seen that if you change a few words from Kanye’s words, it becomes very close to that of Djokovic’s.

Recently, Darren Cahill and Simone Vagnozzi won the ATP awards for the best coach of the year. Novak Djokovic also congratulated them while praising his coach. The fans are split on this, and while many are with Djokovic, some people are against it.

Fans believe that the Serbian was being salty and not being a good sport by commenting. One user even said that the coaches were awarded because Sinner was one of the most improved players this season, while Djokovic was always on top.
