Novak Djokovic and his ardent fan Kazakh Jerik Ilyasov
Novak Djokovic, the 21-time Grand Slam champion made a strong comeback and went on to win titles at the Tel Aviv Open followed by winning at the Astana Open despite missing out to participate in the North American swing. He has been playing a flawless level of tennis as he hasn’t dropped a single set in his matches since his triumph in Wimbledon.
Kazakh Jerik Ilyasov is a big fan of the Serbian tennis player who received a special prize from Djokovic after winning the title at Astana. He followed the Serb’s each and every move during the Astana Open and even cheered for the Serbian legend as he won his first ATP title of the year on the indoor hardcourt season. Djokovic went on to hand over the racquet after the win and Ilyasov could not contain his excitement upon receiving the special gift.
Ilyasov thanked Djokovic for making him feel so special with the kind gesture and does not leave the gift alone even when he is deep asleep. He posted his message on his social media account as he flaunts the black and white racquet. He said “I said Novak, come, win the cup, and you left me your racket. Today’s victory is priceless for my young country, for me, it is like winning a Grand Slam. I love you and thank you, Novak“
Novak Djokovic’s ban might get lifted and grant him a chance to participate in the 2023 Australian Open
Novak Djokovic was deported from Australia during the Australian Open in 2022 over his unvaccinated status even after receiving an exemption to enter the country. As per the rules of the country, if someone is deported, the visa gets canceled for three years and hence, Djokovic faced a three-year visa ban. But with recent changes in the rules that could allow a person to enter the country irrespective of his vaccination status, Djokovic gets a glimmer of hope about the upliftment of his visa ban.
Djokovic has been regarded as one of the greatest players of all time and had been in the headlines for his stance on his vaccination status for which he had to face severe consequences for it since the beginning of the year. He was not allowed to participate in two Grand Slam tournaments of the year for which he had a substantial drop in his rankings and fell out of the Top 5 of the ATP rankings.
