Serbian tennis star Novak Djokovic has landed in Australia amidst huge fanfare and media frenzy. He is making a comeback to his favorite hunting ground after a gap of a year. Djokovic is set to start his 2023 campaign at the Adelaide International starting on January 1st.
As Djokovic is one of the fittest players on the Tour and is also a vegetarian, he requires special attention for his dietary needs. Alister MacDonald, director of the tournament has opened up about that. He said the tournament is taking special care of Djokovic and making sure that he can have a ‘good vegan diet’.
“He is also very keen to talk about his food. So, we will simply make sure that he can have good vegetarian food and the team has been excellent so far,” MacDonald said about taking care of Djokovic.
“He was fantastic today. He arrived in Adelaide ready to face all the opponents there. We are really impatient to see him, he looks lively and his team is delighted to be in Adelaide,” MacDonald, the director further expressed his excitement. “He knows Adelaide well, he knows what to expect, and the conditions are quite similar to those of Melbourne. So I think his whole team is really, really happy to be here,” he further added elaborating on the point.
MacDonald further shed some light on the preparation of the Serb. “Obviously, he has a great team around him, he is very keen on how he prepares himself, and even today, by being on the court for the first time, you really have a sense of preparation that goes in each training session,” he said.

Will Novak Djokovic extend his record at Melbourne Park?
Serbian star lands in Australia with much fanfare after a hiatus of one year. And as the heat surrounding the Australian Open builds up, will Djokovic extend his record tally at Melbourne Park remains the biggest question in the mind of every tennis fan. Anyway, Australia is going to be the epicenter of tennis for the next few weeks beginning with the United Cup.
The 35-year-old won’t be participating in the United Cup after Serbia failed to qualify for the team’s event. Instead, Djokovic will get a chance to test his preparation for the Australian Open at the Adelaide International starting from January 1st. This will give him some time to adjust to the local conditions.
Djokovic will face fierce competition from his old rival and the defending champion Rafael Nadal in his quest for the 10th title. Carlos Alcaraz, another Spaniard, and the current world No 1 will also prove to be a tough opponent for the Serb. Whatever happens at the end, this Australian Open is certainly going to be one of the most thrilling in recent years.
