Simon Chambers has taken a swipe at the Novak Djokovic fan base, following their polarizing comments on social media over the past year. The British journalist co-authored the book ‘The Roger Federer Effect’, which was published in October 2022. It describes the story of the Swiss maestro Roger Federer, through the eyes of the people around him.
In a recent interview, Simon Chambers revealed his thoughts on the constant criticism he faces on social media by Djokovic fans. “Well, on social networks Djokovic fans writing that they are not surprised that we have written a book about Federer because they think that everyone who does not say that Djokivic is the best every day of the week means that you do not like Djokovic. It’s such a polarizing thing,” he said. (H/T: Claytennis)
Roger Federer hung up his racket at the Laver Cup last year, as he played his final competitive match with Rafael Nadal in a Doubles encounter. Despite his retirement from the sport, Roger Federer has remained pretty active in terms of his involvement with tennis. He was recently spotted at Wimbledon and continues to remain on the road for his various sponsorship deals.
Simon Chambers laments mentality of Nole fans after social media criticism

Chambers stated that he has received a lot of hate from Novak Djokovic fans, given the fact that he has co-authored a Roger Federer book. He laments the mentality of fans who only believe that the Serbian is the best tennis player of the current generation. The Big Three- Rafael Nadal, Djokovic, and Federer have dominated the sport for the last two decades and have shared 65 Major titles amongst them.
The GOAT debate featuring the three greats of tennis has been a never-ending topic. However, Simon Chambers believes that just because one does not claim Djokovic to be the best player in every aspect of the discussion, it does not mean that he does not like the player. The British journalist calls the Serb’s fans ‘polarizing’ with their general attitude.
The book, ‘Roger Federer Effect’, has been co-authored by Simon Chambers and Simon Graf. The book has interviews of people close to the former Swiss tennis player, which includes his family, relatives, coaches, and even his fellow players on the tour.
