The MP of Mulgrave and one of Victoria’s longest-serving members, politician Daniel Andrews recently announced that he’ll be stepping down from the post soon. Elected as the 48th Premier of the Australian state of Victoria, Andrews decided to step down from the role after almost 9 years. Djokovic fans, however, are delighted by this recent development in Australia.

Current World No.1, Novak Djokovic had his visa canceled prior to the 2022 Australian Open and had to be deported out of the country on medical grounds since the Pole was ‘unvaccinated’ against COVID-19. Djokovic had in fact, filed for a lawsuit but lost the legal bid that lasted 11 hours, as a result of which, he had to fly out of the country.

Andrews back in January 2022, had aggressively advocated against allowing the Pole to compete in the Open unless he decided to get vaccinated first. “My position is very clear. You want to come here — get vaccinated. It’s pretty simple,” Andrews had stated earlier in 2022 in the month of January.

Daniel announced that he’d be resigning from politics altogether as he believed it was time for him to do so. Following the announcement, Serbian No.1’s fans took to social media as they expressed their joy over the “good news.” Nolefans blamed the politician heavily on the internet for Novak was deported less than 24 hours before the Open was set to begin. A user on the media platform X (formerly Twitter) claimed that the 51-year-old, “should get life in prison.”

Social media reacts to Daniel Andrews’ resignation from politics

Daniel Andrews played a pivotal role in the deportation of Novak Djokovic at the beginning of 2022. The MP ensured that Djokovic did not get excluded from following the post-COVID-19 health and safety protocols. The Serb was required to get vaccinated against the virus for him to play at the Australia Open in 2022. However, he was denied the permission to play and Daniel Andrews played a key part in ensuring so.

And then everyone’s time wouldn’t have to be wasted with this,’” he had claimed earlier while talking to the media regarding Novak Djokovic’s deportation.

Nolefam expressed their rage at the 51-year-old who’ll be officially stepping down from his position later today. Many tennis fans on the social media platform, X were elated on hearing the news. Others took a sarcastic jab at him. One user claimed that they hoped Andrews, “Got and continues to get all his boosters.” Daniels imposed one of the strictest lockdowns in Australia during the pandemic. The Australian has been criticized for many of his actions and views in the past, one of which includes the strict lockdown measures during the pandemic. However, Prime Minister of Australia, Anthony Albanese, pointing out the 51-year-old’s role during the COVID-19 pandemic said, “He stood up each and every day during the pandemic. He stood up for doing what he believed was absolutely right to keep Victorians safe – not making easy decisions, making difficult decisions.”
