“Doctors gave me a one percent chance,” Novak Djokovic’s father reveals he almost DIED due to ‘lack of sleep for years because of extreme financial conditions

Novak Djokovic’s father, Srdjan Djokovic, reveals his family went through tough financial conditions amid the tennis star’s rising years. He was quoted as saying that the Serbian star was unaware of the difficulties they were having in financing his tennis career until he was 17 years old.

He later discovered that all of their pubs and residences were rented. However, his father believes that that is one of the reasons why he is a role model for the third world. He was a regular boy from the start.

He expressed that they were an ordinary Serbian family with no one behind them. Fortunately, they had the support of a few amazing friends who helped them push everything and see things through to the conclusion. Those were a lot of pressures. He revealed that he suffered from serious health issues as he didn’t sleep for years. His wife’s health also underwent various challenges. He said that Dijana had major health issues.

Then he discovered that all of them had major health issues 9 years ago. All of this was somehow a prerequisite for it to happen, for Novak to become the person he is, remarked Srdjan Djokovic.

He shared, “I had blood sepsis, lung water, purulent abscesses, and two bacteria. Doctors gave me a 1% chance of surviving for one month. I would not have survived if they hadn’t relocated me to Munich, because there were no circumstances for survival here.”

Novak Djokovic already owned the record for most Top 10 wins in ATP rankings history, but he passed a significant milestone on Tuesday. With a 6-1, 6-2, 6-4 quarterfinal victory against No. 9-ranked Taylor Fritz, the 23-time Grand Slam champion became the first man in history to have 250 career wins over Top 10 players.

Going into his match versus the American, he was already 25 wins ahead of the next name on the list, Roger Federer. The historic day doesn’t stop there—Djokovic has advanced to his 47th Major semifinal, a new all-time men’s record, surpassing Federer’s 46.
