Novak Djokovic‘s 8-year-old son, Stefan Djokovic, was seen assisting his dad before the first-round match against Pedro Cachin yesterday. Interestingly, this was not the first time Stefan Djokovic was seen assisting his dad. The young Djokovic supported his dad from the stands at the recently concluded Roland Garros and continued the support at Wimbledon, this time assisting as a member of Djokovic’s team.

Stefan has always loved playing tennis and has also played some small club tournaments since the age of 8. Even though Djokovic himself didn’t force himself to play tennis, it was his own desire to do so, showing his aspirations of following in his father’s footsteps and probably even bettering them.

The bond between Novak and Stefan was also vividly visible in court yesterday. Novak, on Stefan’s presence on the court, said, “My son Stefan is 8 and he’s excited about anything that is related to tennis. He asked me last night, ‘Daddy, I know you’re leaving early, but I want to be with you. From the moment you leave the house, I want to be with you the entire day’.”

With that being said, it seems like this will not be the last time tennis fans witness such a heartwarming moment between a father and a son. Stefan following in his dad’s footsteps is surely a realistic scenario, and joining his team and assisting him could be seen as the start of his son’s preparation to take over the tennis world, just like his father.

Stefan Djokovic has been supporting his dad from the stands for quite some time. Last year, Novak was also seen practicing with his son at different events. It was also reported that Stefan won his first club championship last year on the same day as Novak won the Rome Masters.

Stefan’s success and his passion for the game have also made his father dream about a doubles game with his son. According to Novak, Stefan doesn’t only watch his games but also the tennis games of different players around the world. Stefan’s passion, if matched with determination like his father’s, could result in one heck of a tennis player.
