Novak Djokovic has had a fair share of ups and downs throughout the year. He failed to defend his title at the 2022 Paris Masters after being beaten by Holger Rune, the young prodigy from Denmark. But he faced some allegations over receiving a mystery drink from his coaching team during his semifinal encounter against Stefanos Tsitsipas.

A viral video by an individual present in the audience questioned his credibility and genuineness. The video showed his team making a drink for the Serb in a suspicious manner that looked like an attempt to hide from the cameras. The prepared drink was then given to the Serb in the middle of the semifinal match. As the video spread, Djokovic received a lot of criticism and was even subjected to doping allegations.

The Serb’s wife Jelena Djokovic took to social media to extend her complete support to the 21-time Grand Slam champion over the mystery drink controversy at Bercy. Although the player himself is yet to comment anything on the matter, Jelena went ahead to defend her husband against any sort of allegations while accusing the public of the lack of privacy.

She posted on her Twitter account stating there wasn’t anything dodgy with the drink that could be a matter of concern. She said ” I don’t see anything dodgy. In fact, I see people trying to be private about their business in a world where everyone feels like they have every right to point the camera at you whenever they want. Apparently, wanting/trying to be private makes you dodgy nowadays.

Novak Djokovic has had a tough year as he wasn’t allowed to participate in any of the tournaments in the North American swing over his unvaccinated status. The 9-time Australian Open champion faced a lot of criticism for his choice of neither taking the vaccine nor having the intent to take it anytime soon. One of the leading magazines tweeted objecting to his stance and rather consistently hoping for a change in rules at tournaments.

The Serb’s wife did not like the constant criticism and was unable to take it further. She went on to slam the media organization for being biased. She further questioned their credibility as well as their originality. Jelena has been a constant supporter at Novak Djokovic’s player box.
