Jelena Djokovic always had a constant presence among the spectators of any tennis tournament in which her husband was participating. Especially if it’s a Grand Slam, Jelena is always there to support her husband, morally and emotionally. But this time, that is not the case.

In an unexpected turn of events, Jelena recently confirmed that she would not be present at the 2024 Australian Open.

Although one has often seen her at the US Open, Wimbledon, and the AO, this is not the first time she is going to stay away from the tournament. During last year’s AO tournament, Jelena celebrated Djokovic’s 10th AO victory from the comfort of her home while watching ‘Pretty Women, starring Julia Roberts.

Djokovic is on a quest to achieve his 11th title in Melbourne and at such a time, the presence of ones’ partner is very important. Although Jelena might not be able to support her ‘GOAT’ husband this time, the Serb is definitely looking to win his 25th Grand Slam title.

Djokovic channels negativity into performance

In the post match press conference following his third-round triumph over Tomas Martin Etcheverry at the Australian Open, Novak Djokovic revealed his mindset in the face of criticism and boos from the audience.

The debate focused on a recent interaction with a spectator during his second-round match against Alexei Popyrin.

Djokovic has always been known for tackling negativity head-on. He described the occasion in which he urged a heckling fan to approach him on the court, prompting the man to apologize.

Djokovic addressed the event frankly, stating that such unfavorable comments serve as further motivation for him to improve his performance on the court.

It was fueling me even more. I mean, if I made a mistake, I would admit it and, of course, say I make a mistake, I raise my hand, I apologize or whatever. But if the criticism came with no particular reason, I think, then I would just keep going the kind of direction that I chose, and that’s it.
Djokovic explained during the AO Presser.

As Djokovic progresses to the fourth round of the 2024 Australian Open, he will meet Adriano Mannarino, whom he has defeated in all four previous encounters.

The World No. 1’s ability to turn misfortune into resolve and focus will surely be on display as he seeks another victory in Melbourne, aided by his distinct style for on-court confrontations and crowd interactions.
