“Now please come back!” Tennis Twitter demand Ash Barty to come out of retirement after she ties the knot with partner Garry Kissick

Garry Kissick and Ashleigh Barty
Former world no. 1 Ashleigh Barty was one of the most proficient tennis players in recent times, gaining notoriety for utterly dominating the women’s circuit year after year. She retired from the sport earlier this year after winning three Grand Slam trophies throughout the course of her dominant, albeit short career, breaking the hearts of her numerous fans.
In what came as a surprise to everyone, Barty announced her marriage to her longtime partner, golfer Garry Kissick in a private ceremony. It was previously known that Barty planned to hold a small wedding with only a few close friends and family members. Queensland served as the location of the wedding.
The two were engaged in November of last year, while Barty was putting the finishing touches on another attempt to end Australia’s historic streak of more than 40 years without producing an Australian Open singles winner. In 2017, Barty and Kissick made their relationship known by attending the John Newcombe Awards, where Barty took up the first of her four Newcombe medals, which honor the country’s top player of the year. After winning three of the sport’s major championships—Wimbledon, the Australian, and the French Open—and being ranked as the number one player in the world, Barty announced her retirement in March.

The Queenslander left some room for a comeback to professional tennis, though. “I’d say you never say never. I’d say the door is closed, but it’s not padlocked. “ I’m never one to absolutely say never, never, never. But, yeah, it feels like it’s closed. I feel like I’ve given absolutely everything to the sport and there is nothing more for me to give. But I know that tennis will always be a massive part of my life and I’ll be able to contribute in different ways, which is maybe why that connection with tennis will always be there.”
