Daniil Medvedev said, “I remember the three matches against him, the last two times he won easily. I remember my first match against him, in Shanghai. I was starting to climb, I had just won an ATP 500 in Tokyo, I was very happy, I was playing pretty well. I saw that I could play Roger in the second round, I had a crazy match against the Chinese Zhang Ze in the first round, I played Roger, and I had many opportunities to win the match.

I had done a huge woody retro, I had been lucky and he had laughed. At that time, playing Roger in the center in Shanghai was one of the greatest emotions of my life. It’s a shame that he was less there when I progressed. The only great opportunity I had then was at Wimbledon (2021) but Hubert Hurkacz was stronger than me and then stronger than Roger,” Medvedev added further.

Medvedev rarely faced Roger Federer throughout his career. The Russian professional fondly remembers the three matches he competed in against Federer, all of them ending in defeats they still are happy memories for Daniil Medvedev.
