Petros Tsitsipas, Stefanos Tsitsipas’s brother, was caught in an arrogant moment that ended in an embarrassing serve misjudgment during Wimbledon’s men’s doubles match. Playing along with his brother Stefanos against French players Luca Van Assche and Arthur Fils, Petros Tsitsipas hit a serve that he thought was in, confidently turning towards the bench, seemingly certain of his shot’s success.
However, the serve was called out, leaving Tsitsipas red-faced. The instance left both, Stef and his girlfriend Paula Badosa who was watching the game, embarrassed.
The event not only highlighted Tsitsipas’s error but also sparked issues about his demeanor on the court. His obvious arrogance and lack of focus resulted in a costly miscalculation that may have serious consequences for the Greek brother’s performance in the game. The duo eventually lost the match against the French pair, 7(7)- 6(3), 4-6, 2-6.
As expected, Petros Tsitsipas seemed extremely frustrated and dissatisfied with himself after the serve miscalculation. Tsitsipas, like any other athlete, needs to learn from this experience, realizing that arrogance may hinder progress and success in sports. The event involving Petros underscores the significance of remaining humble and focused in the face of competition.

Stefanos Tsitsipas is happy to withdraw from mixed doubles
Tsitsipas defeated local favorite and two-time winner Andy Murray in the second round of the 2023 Wimbledon Championships on Friday. While the Greek triumphed, his girlfriend Paula Badosa was unable to generate a similar outcome in her second-round match against Marta Kostyuk. The Spaniard retired in the middle of the match owing to a spinal injury. Because of her decision to withdraw from Wimbledon, she will not be seen competing in the mixed doubles tournament with her boyfriend Stefanos Tsitsipas.
Tsitsipas said after his win over Andy Murray that he was relieved to have one less thing to worry about following his withdrawal from the mixed doubles event. “Mixed is not a thing anymore, thank God. I prefer to live,” he remarked, smiling, at his post-match press conference. Initially, he had planned to compete in all three events: men’s singles, men’s doubles with his brother Petros, and mixed doubles with Badosa.
Although he had to withdraw from the mixed doubles match, he kept his promise and competed in the men’s doubles event with his brother Petros. And in men’s singles, Tsitsipas has placed himself in the 4th round after defeating Serbian player Laslo Dere and is now set to face Christopher Eubanks tomorrow.
