Police investigations reveal Rafael Nadal and his wife Mery had a narrow escape from a planned burglary in Mallorca

Rafael Nadal, the 36-year-old Spaniard is considered one of the greatest tennis players of all time, winning 22 Grand Slam titles until now which is more than any other player, he recently had to withdraw from the 2022 Wimbledon semi-finals due to an abdominal injury where he was scheduled to face Nick Kyrgios.

Nadal was recently under the spotlight after the Spaniard’s beach house was a target of a robbery by a bunch of thieves. Nadal lives in the beachfront house with his wife who is currently pregnant with their first child. The reported robbery target was confirmed by the authorities through a hand-written note.

The robbery of Rafael Nadal’s house was being planned by up to 7 people

The criminal gang that was targeting Nadal’s house was recently arrested by the authorities in Spain, and a notebook was found at one of the suspect’s homes that said ‘Porto Cristo. Nadal Mallorca’ referring to Nadal’s beachfront house in Mallorca, Spain. The group of robbers had previously robbed Italian footballer Marco Verrati’s house and had Argentine Lionel Messi’s house as one of the targets as well.

Moreover, the authorities linked the criminal gang to another 15 robberies and after arresting the culprits, the authorities made a statement saying, “Seven people belonging to a criminal gang of Albanian origin which had allegedly just stolen £2.5m in designer watches and jewelry, have been arrested. The belongings stolen during the raid on the footballer’s villa were recovered in the car two of the suspected members of the gang were using after they were arrested.”

Nadal is currently recovering from his injury, the Spaniard will be in action at the US Open next where he will be looking to go all the way to win the 23rd major title of his career. He currently leads the total tally of the number of Grand Slams won, being one title ahead of Novak Djokovic who recently won Wimbledon.
