The United States‘ policies about vaccination policies are that for entering the country, you must show the proof of vaccination. Though they have relaxed the requirements of carrying a negative Covid test, they are strictly following the proof of vaccination, which has caused some massive tensions in the tennis world regarding the participation of Novak Djokovic at the US Open 2022.
As is widely known that Djokovic has opted not to take the CoVID vaccine and was booted out of the Australian Open 2022, even after getting a relaxation signed. Fans are worried that unless Djokovic’s team applies for a relaxation in policy, which is still subject to the US Government’s approval, he might not be able to participate in another Grand Slam. Tennys Sandgren, an American tennis player has spoken out against the United States Tennis Association for its disregard for one of the greatest tennis players.

Tennys Sandgren terms this discrimination against Novak Djokovic as ridiculous.
Sandgren has called out the US tennis association for not fighting for Novak Djokovic. He said it was ‘ridiculous’ that they won’t fight for an exemption for Djokovic. After the announcement of the participation of Russian and Belarusian athletes in the US Open 2022, it would be a very bad precedent for the US Tennis Association to not try to get an exemption for Djokovic. He also pointed out the idiocracy of the rule.
But, many people say that since Djokovic has his own choice on whether he should follow the rules or not, then as a professional tennis player, if he wants to give his career some priority, it would be better for him and his fans if he just took the vaccine and got all of the commotions over with.
