Rafael Nadal, the former world number one and one of the greatest athletes of all time has been riding on a high with his incredible form and consistent performances this season as he cruises into the second round of the 2022 US Open with a 20-0 record in the Grand Slam matches. He has already won two singles titles this year to surpass Roger Federer‘s tally of 20 and Novak Djokovic‘s tally of 21. He was on the way to achieving a calendar year but faced a major setback when he got injured at Wimbledon forcing his withdrawal from the semi-final match.
Nadal skipped playing at the Montreal Open keeping in view the US Open and as per his doctors’ advice to get some rest in order to be recovered completely to be able to play his best tennis. He made his comeback at the Cincinnati Open after a gap of five years but his stint was short-lived as he lost to the eventual winner Borna Coric in the first round. Nadal has a high chance of winning the title at the US Open since Djokovic has withdrawn from the tournament as he failed to comply with the US mandates and guidelines regarding his unvaccinated status.
Time to rejoice as junior Rafael Nadal is on the way
Nadal has often been in the headlines over his relationship status apart from his game. He will be facing Fabio Fognini in the second-round clash and will be looking to extend his overall record of 65 match wins at the US Open. But a few days before the start of the tournament, reports claimed that Rafael Nadal’s wife Maria Perello was admitted to a hospital in Mallorca over some pregnancy-related complications which was a matter of concern for the Spaniard legend. But after some days, it was a huge sigh of relief for Nadal since Maria and their baby are fine and out of danger and he can completely shift his focus on the US Open.
As per the latest reports, it is confirmed that the 22-time champion was soon going to be a father of a baby boy who might be a premature baby due to some complications. If things go well with the mother and the baby in good health, then the junior Nadal will arrive by October end. It will be the icing on the cake if Nadal is able to achieve his fifth US Open title and overall his 23rd singles major title since he is one of the favorites going into the tournament.
