Quentin Halys is on Cloud nine ever since the 22-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic praised him for his performance at the 2023 Adelaide International 1 tournament. The Frenchman met the eventual winner of the competition in the second round. The Serbian had to wrestle to beat him 7(7)-6(3), 7(7)-6(5).
Although he lost against the Serb, he left a lasting impression on the current World No.1. In the post-match interview, Novak Djokovic complimented Quentin Halys for his brilliant performance.
“It was a great performance from my opponent today and I want to congratulate him for a great fight. He played like a Top 10 opponent. He was serving big, hitting his spots and on a fast court like this it’s tough to break, so two two-breaks is a realistic score in today’s match. I’m glad to overcome the challenge,” he had said.
With this praise, the Quentin Halys got a great confidence boost.
“It gave me some confidence hearing that. At the end I was a little disappointed because I lost. But It is a nice comment. It is always great to hear that. I know I can perform against those players and I am trying to keep training hard and I know where I want to be,” Quentin Halys talked about Novak Djokovic’s comments in a recent interview.
The Frenchman is currently playing in the ATP Challenger Tour tournament- Open Sud de France Montpellier. He reached the quarterfinal round here. Here, he will take on another Frenchman Arthur Fils.

Quentin Halys continues to improve himself

The Frenchman in the past twelve months won three ATP Challenger Tour titles. He also improved his rankings. He climbed positions, from out of the Top 150 to World No.61 in the latest ATP rankings.
After playing at the 2023 Adelaide International 1 tournament, this year, Quentin Halys participated in the ASB Classic 2023 tournament. He reached till the quarterfinal round of the competition. However, he defeated higher ranked players such as Alex Molcan and Ben Shelton in the first and the second rounds respectively before being knocked out of the tournament.
At the Australian Open 2023, he participated, although he was defeated by eventual finalist Stefanos Tsitsipas in the first round of the tournament, he feels he has a great game.
“It was another good experience. I was close to winning the third set but I have learned from that match and now know if I play him again I know what I need to do better. It is always a good experience to play on big stadiums. You play for those matches,” he shared his experience of playing at the Australian Open 2023.
This match also inspired him to become the best and find his place in the elite league.
“Now I feel I can beat the top guys. It is completely different to how I felt one or two years ago. Now I feel I can do something. At least win one set. Now I am preparing to have a plan to win and feel I can do something,” he continued.
The experience of playing against the Top players in the main draw of the major tournaments will definitely help him to become better. As he climbs in the rankings, he will also be held in high esteem by the tennis fans and critics.
