Rafael Nadal, the 36-year-old Spaniard is widely regarded as one of the greatest tennis players of all time, with 22 Grand Slam titles to his name, Nadal leads the list of an elite group infamously known as the ‘big three’ that includes Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer and the Spaniard himself.

Having a successful 2022, Nadal won the French Open this year but had to unfortunately bow out before the 2022 Wimbledon semi-finals against Nick Kyrgios due to an injury, following his injury problems, Nadal has also not participated in the Montreal Masters event. An abdominal tear has put him on the sidelines for weeks.

There are a lot of fans of Rafael Nadal around the world, the public, and fellow sportsmen alike, the Spanish legend has the world in awe with his excellent abilities. With 22 Grand Slams to his name, Nadal stands clear in the Grand Slam tally and only Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer are able to give some sort of competition to him with 21 and 20 Grand Slam titles to their name respectively.

Mischa Zverev, the 34-year-old German professional is another such fan of Nadal, talking about Nadal’s serve and volleys, Zverev said, “The players, especially Medvedev, are preparing for long rallies. This is the tactic of building the point from behind. Rafa constantly analyzes the game and he knows when it is smart to create surprise moments. He often does something new or unexpected when trailing, such as when there is a break point against him.“

“After a very long game, advantage – deuce – advantage – deuce, he suddenly throws a serve and volley. He does it when you least expect it, in a stressful situation. If Rafa played serve and volley all the time, it wouldn’t work,” Zverev added further in an interview with the German Tennis Magazin.

With Rafael Nadal’s injury problems and him bowing out of the Canadian Open, it is unlikely that the defending French Open champion will be able to participate in the US Open at the end of the month as well.
