Rafael Nadal and Kia Motors are definitely planning something ahead of October 18th. An exciting surprise that is supposed to be held in Madrid. An exchange on Twitter began when Kia Motors sent a mysterious tweet to the tennis legend via its official Twitter account.
“Hey RafaelNadal, see you on October 18th – something big is coming,” read the tweet from Kia Motors. As one could see, the message accompanied an air of mystery.
The hashtag ‘#TheIcon‘ sparked speculation among fans regarding the nature of the partnership and the importance of the term. Nadal, who is known as ‘The King of Clay’ due to his supremacy on clay courts, has definitely an ‘iconic‘ standing in the world of tennis.
In a response that further fueled speculation, Nadal, known for his wittiness replied, “Yeap… looking forward to it… Madrid? ? #TheIcon.“
While details are being kept under wraps, the choice of Madrid as the location adds value. The Spanish capital has significant meaning for Nadal, who has multiple accomplishments and a large support base in his own country.
Nadal and Kia Motors Have Been Setting a New Milestone in Sports Sponsorship
Nadal and Kia Motors have been celebrating over two decades of groundbreaking cooperation that began in 2004. Since the Spaniard became Kia’s world ambassador at the age of 19, they have worked tirelessly to spread the brand value of the corporation.

Kia’s partnership with Nadal began with ‘Kia Spain‘. The partnership has since blossomed into a symbol of loyalty and shared success. Kia Motors has been a major partner of the Australian Open. In 2020 they confirmed that they would continue their connection with the 22-time Grand Slam winner. The news was made during a fan-led training session given by Nadal at the Rafael Nadal Academy in Mallorca, Spain.
Nadal and Kia, earlier this year, launched a fleet of 130 Kia automobiles ahead of the Australian Open 2023. The launch not only celebrated the handover of the fleet but also the continuation of one of Australia’s longest-running sporting sponsorships. Kia’s commitment to the Australian Open has been extended for another year.
