Rafael Nadal faced a shocking defeat in his second match at the Year-end Championship as he lost to young prodigy Felix Auger Aliassime in straight sets. Though he played some good level of tennis, he could not capitalize on the breakpoints and could not perfect his service games. It provided the edge to the Canadian as he was the dominant player of the day.

In his first round-robin match with the Green group, he succumbed under the hands of Taylor Fritz in straight sets. With the back-to-back losses, he is on a 4-match losing streak. He was the formidable player of the year but his injury at Wimbledon put him on the back foot. Less practice and not being able to play as many matches as he could have if he wasn’t injured resulted in his early exit at the Paris Masters followed by defeats at the ATP Finals. Rafael Nadal’s quest for a win in Turin still continues as he will not qualify for the semifinals.
