Despite going through a series of setbacks and injuries, Rafael Nadal’s commitment to tennis is beyond compare. And that’s precisely what fans got to witness recently as he returns to the tour for the first time as a ‘father’. For context, tennis legend Rafael Nadal recently became a father, welcoming a baby boy to his family with his wife Mery. Nadal did not participate in any other tournament after the 2022 US Open barring the 2022 Laver Cup and immediately flew back home after his appearance on Day 1 to spend some quality time with his wife and the newborn family member.

However, the 22-time major winner now returns to the Tour as a father for the 2022 Paris Masters, eliciting a plethora of reactions online. With eyes set on his 37th Masters title and his fifth of the season, Nadal talked about how things are different this year in Bercy as he leaves his son back home for the first time. As per the tennis champion himself, despite not being able to talk to his three weeks old baby boy, he misses him dearly and is all set for the new life experience.

Addressing the press ahead of his first match in Bercy this year, Nadal noted, “It has always been tough to leave home, honestly, and this time a different approach to usual. It’s quite interesting how, even after two or three weeks of knowing him, even if you can’t interact that much with a three weeks baby, you start missing him. It’s a new life experience.

“All the changes are difficult in this life, and you need to adapt. The life of the ones traveling is less difficult than the life of people staying at home with the baby. And at the same time, it is true that we are lucky today that, with the technology, everything, we can do video calls any time that you want, so that helps. My friends who had babies in the past didn’t have this option,” Continuing

The 22-time major winner is yet to be informed about his second-round opponent.

As per some wild reports and rumors, the Nadal family will be naming the newborn Rafael Jr. after his father. However, at the time of writing, nothing has been officially confirmed, and the family is yet to announce the name in public if the young one is indeed going to be named after his legendary father. The son was born on 8th October but Nadal didn’t say anything till the 13th of October before tweeting a thank-you message to his fans and viewers for all the unconditioned support and love.

Nadal had already said that he did not wish to be very busy on the Tour when he’s a father. With an increase in his injury concerns, the 36-year-old might not continue for over 2 or 3 seasons at max and would have his wish of spending time with his kid fulfilled.
